I love gadgets, I love better interfaces, I love the idea of making your work life more flexible. This is my new toy, a Microsoft Surface Pro. It’s a hybrid tablet made by microsoft, a normal every day tablet with the ability to use full windows 8 and more importantly to me a fantastic wacom pen interface. I wanted to be able to scribble notes and ideas everywhere I go, I wanted them to sync with my main work computer automatically, I wanted to use all the same production software that I use on the large desktop pc.
This is almost perfect. The precision of the pen is superb, the screen resolution is painfully good (sometimes too good), the soft keyboard/cover works.
Working in different environments helps your mind change perspectives and frees you from the desk viewpoint. I like the concept of working wherever and however I want.
